Question:
Whilst I agreed to be appointed as a trustee of a Trust fund which was set up under my father’s Will, I am not sure of what this role entails. Can you help me?
Answer:
Yes we can. Acting as a trustee is an onerous task and it is essential that you are aware of what your obligations and responsibilities are. There are so many considerations to take into account when acting as a trustee. Not being aware of these can result in serious consequences for you personally. You would benefit from taking advantage of a fixed priced interview by way of an initial consultation. Call our Wills, Trusts and Probate department to arrange an appointment on 0161 442 6240.
Question:
I have not yet made a Will. Is it important that I have one?
Answer:
The simple answer is yes. It is essential for everyone to make a Will regardless of their assets. A Will deals with so many aspects. For instance, you can name the people who you want to deal with your estate, you can decide who should inherit your estate, you can include special bequests to specific people, you can appoint a guardian (or guardians) for your young children, you can set up trusts for your children, you can look at ways of minimising inheritance tax, and you can express your funeral wishes.
If you die without leaving a Will, then the state dictates where your assets are to go and also who can administer your estate. Make sure that you are the decision-maker over these things. We would advise you not to hold off making a Will any longer – do not leave it to chance. Call our Wills, Trusts and Probate department to arrange an appointment to discuss putting a Will in place on 0161 442 6240.
